Welcome to today’s post! Girls Regional Final Recaps and Boys Preview!
What a night! Two #1’s go down by a goal, one in OT. The 2x defending state champs on the ropes late, only to find a way to win in OT themselves. A few dominating performances by #1’s too. In total it was FOUR one-goal games out of the 8 played! A new Final Four participant in Stoneman Douglas. And we’re now down to this:
Friday
12:00pm – Lake Highland vs St Stephen’s in 1A
2:30pm – Episcopal vs AH-Delray in 1A
5:00pm – Bartram Trail vs Vero Beach in 2A
7:30pm – Stoneman Douglas vs Plant in 2A
Today, we see all 8 regional finals and while a few are not on the NFHS system, here’s the list/times according to this morning on MaxPreps:
1A:
4:00pm – Saint Andrew’s hosting Saint John Paul
5:00pm – Benjamin hosting Lake Highland
7:00pm – Cardinal Mooney hosting Community School
7:30pm – Bolles hosting Oak Hall
2A:
7:00pm – Plant hosting Newsome
7:00pm – Jupiter hosting St Thomas
7:00pm – Winter Park hosting Vero Beach
7:30pm – Lake Mary hosting Ponte Vedra
In college news, Flagler Men won their semifinal against Montevallo as the 4-seed and play for the championship this weekend and will play Lander tomorrow. The Gators are playing their AAC final today, taking on James Madison. JU Women take on Coastal Carolina in the ASUN final today and the JU Men take the ASUN semifinal over Air Force and will play for the title against Utah.
The weekend is FULL of great college games, and there are PLENTY of Florida kids on TV to see today and tomorrow. The bracket releases will be Sunday and trust me, there’s a LOT of Maalox/Tums being bought right now. The D2 brackets will be streamed on NCAA.com on Sunday at 7:30 for the Men; I haven’t seen the streaming time for the Women’s bracket yet.
One thing I do know, and what a treat for the Florida Girls . . . Rollins is hosting the NCAA D2 Women’s Final Four this year! May 23rd-25th at Showalter Stadium. Get informed and support the event! One day, we are going to find a way to host a D1 weekend too! FAU and the new USF stadium will be perfect venues for that!
Now on to last night and today’s previews . . .
