Welcome to today’s post! First Round finishes today with 9 games in Boys 2A.
The Girls first round is behind us, and we have a few tidbits. As far as I can tell, only one school won a road trip of over 100 miles. Of course, home teams are more likely to win but it’s no secret that travel distance in parts of this state is a difficult proposition.
In 2A, we have a #6 seed in Tocoi and 3 #5’s in East Ridge, Jupiter and Oviedo. In 1A, we only have 1 #5 in Cypress Creek.
The Boys wrap up Round 1 today and so far we have 1 #6 in Viera in 2A moving on with 9 games left. In 1A, we also have 1 #6 in Holy Trinity and 2 #5’s in Calvary Christian Clearwater and St Edward’s.
Keep the competitive games coming!

This weekend we will be crowning the Sunshine State Conference champs.
On the Men’s side, Tampa will host Rollins and on the Women’s side, it will be FSC hosting Tampa.
Flagler Men host Montevallo today and the Peach Belt playoffs are next weekend. The Flagler Women won their semifinal in the Gulf South Conference semifinals and will host Alabama-Huntsville in the final on Sunday. I do not know if the Gulf South has an automatic bid to the NCAA D2 field.
The Gators host Temple in their final regular season game and are looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.
The JU Men host Bellarmine today. JU has already clinched their bid to the ASUN playoffs and are tied with Utah and Air Force with 7-1 records in the conference. The JU women travel to Liberty today. They have also clinched an ASUN playoff bid and lead the conference with a 5-0 record.
Stetson is done with their season, and they announced Christy Leach is not going to return as head coach next year. This happened on Tuesday, and I just found out today. Stetson, if you want to build success, it might be a good idea to treat the major outlet for the sport in this state as someone worthy of inclusion on your press releases instead of me having to chase stories.
The Keiser Men knocked off Webber 12-10 yesterday in the AAC semifinal. They move on to Reinhardt today for the title at 2:30pm.
