RIP Callum Robinson.
The only time I ran into Callum, it was before a Florida Launch game and it was just a brief hello, so I can’t share any personal experience, but plenty of people I know in this community did, and all of them were very favorable remembrances of him.
For those not familiar, Callum was an MLL player for years and in PLL for a year according to the PLL Bio. Stevenson grad (according to the rosters for his soph-senior years, the only Florida teammate all 3 years was Matt Stango of Jupiter).
Callum, his brother Jake and a friend named Jack Rhoad were on a vacation in Baja Mexico (they loved surfing according to the news reports) and disappeared (April 27th seems the most likely date). Their bodies were discovered, and the likely cause of death was shootings during an attempted carjacking/robbery according to numerous news accounts. Suspects have been arrested.
We wish his family well as they grieve over their loss.

Boys Regional Final Results
Region 1 1A: #1 Bolles (20-2) 9-8 in OT over #2 Oak Hall (17-3)
Bolles is clearly the favorite here, so the question is can Oak Hall play the game they played against Ponte Vedra, which would give them a puncher’s chance? Bolles is a very senior-dominant team, so you can’t expect them to replicate the Lucy Beckham game play, which they would admit they let get away. Oak Hall is not nearly as experienced (1 Jr and 1 Sr in the Top 6 scoring), so we have to go with Bolles here to move on to what is likely a semifinal matchup with the LHP/Benjamin winner.
I watched pretty much the entire 4th quarter and OT, after seeing the Oak Hall lead of 7-5 after three. Oak Hall was controlling tempo, and then a turnover and a long-pole goal ignited a 3-goal run by Bolles and it seemed like momentum was totally with them. An attempt to run out the clock was eventually foiled by a bad pass and Oak Hall took full advantage to tie it up with my estimate of 1:15 on the clock. Oak Hall got the next possession and had a great look about 5 yards out, near the middle but the shot just missed the net and, in the OT, Bolles was able to convert.
Both teams deserve a lot of praise; Bolles gutted out a win that they had not shown an ability to do against Lucy Beckham, which was the only one-goal game they played until last night, and Oak Hall played the game they needed to play, as noted in the preview. The rivalry now is set for the years to come.
