Morning Coffee with FLN on Substack 05012024
Welcome to today’s post! Girls take center stage today as the regional semifinals take place today!
MCLA Championship brackets are released and unfortunately, neither UF nor FSU have made the D1 field, while FAU is the only Florida team to make it, as the #6 seed in D2, and they will open with UC San Diego. Details on attending to come.
Another GREAT night of lacrosse last night, with 2 OT games, a traditional power losing a semifinal to a program on the resurgence path and a game on the Treasure Coast that needs to be watched if you didn’t.
Tonight we get the boys and if they replicate last night, we’ll have plenty to talk about tomorrow!

Tuesday Results – Girls 1A
Region 1 1A: #1 Ponte Vedra 20-10 over #4 Oak Hall
“This is a good example of a game with multiple factors; PV losing a key player early, Oak Hall starting off 1-2 against good teams and coming on over the course of the season. Ponte Vedra with all that experience from last year and a mostly upperclass team in general, while Oak Hall is younger. Ponte Vedra moves on to the next round.”
Ponte Vedra won this easier than thought and they seem to be peaking at the right time.
Region 1 1A: #3 Episcopal School 20-8 over #3 Pensacola Catholic
“This is another interesting game from the standpoint of an established program versus the up and comer. The rankings are close, but ESJ has played a substantially tougher schedule. PC showed very well in the regular season game and they experienced the travel already. I see ESJ winning the game and I expect it to be tight.”
20 minutes in and it was a tight game, but ESJ went on a run and PC didn’t have the answers, as ESJ ran away with the game. On to PV in the regional final.
