One theme the last few years is watching how some programs are reviving, while some are struggling after an excellent run. Some scores this week are revealing when thought through this lens. The first two weeks are also great for seeing how a program, that had an excellent year last year, would handle that success the following year.
A great example is Leon Boys, which surprised with a 14-4 record in 2023, but needed to keep improving to take on the better programs given their 4 losses to Oak Hall (16-3 last year in game 1 on the road), Nease in the bracket, Niceville and Forest. Their two leading scorers, William Bulloch and Austin Kolman, return and I snuck in a little watching of their game at home with Oak Hall last night. The score didn’t go their way, but I did like what I saw, and if they can sustain and grow from here, it would be great.
